Amisk School

Leader in Me

DECEMBER 13-17 | AMISK

The Amisk Public School staff and students are planning to participate in an Artist in Schools Residency Program with Trickster Theatre. Under the direction of the Trickster Theatre artists, the Amisk students in Kindergarten through Grade three will participate in creating a drama production involving physical theatre. The theme of the residency will be Leader in Me and will explore the 7 Healthy Habits through a dramatic production. During the weeklong process, the students will work with professional actors and be actively involved in a style of theatre that may be new to them.

Classes will be creating theatre pieces that showcase habits from the Leader in Me program. They will do this by creating narratives where the students act out issues they might encounter in their lives and how those issues might be resolved using the 7 healthy habits. For example, classes might create a piece about getting properly prepared for a hiking field trip, or a piece where a basketball team puts in extra practice time in order to compete in the big championship game. The residency ends with the students performing their work and showing their unique talents in a final performance for their peers and community.
