Highwood school is a Mandarin Billingual school celebrating and incorporating both Chinese and Canadian customs and traditions. To celebrate the multicultural heritage Highwood and Trickster Theatre are thrilled to be putting on a Lunar New Year performance at the Jubilee Auditorium that will encompass language, dance, music, and more. Lunar New Year is one of the most signifcicant cultural celebrations in our community and as such will have great community involvement including many different groups and leaders. Students will learn first hand the history and lived experiences from community and cultural organizations and members, as well as how these people and organizations add to the diverse cultural mosiac that make Calgary and Alberta a great place to be. Our intention is to honour and stay true to the meaning and values behind all cultural celebrations and create a bridge between all cultures in our community.
