Indigenous Stories and Storytelling
JUNE 7 - 11 | Edmonton
Students, the future change makers of Canada, deepen their understanding of the current state of Indigenous culture in our country. Elders will share stories that inform discussions of mythical, personal, and sacred. They are tools for teaching and learning about life. The project acknowledges the cultural sensitivity of this issue and we will not be having the students portray First Nations people or tell their stories, but instead focuses on the human dynamics of situations and take cues from the teachings. We will be adding a drum group from the Blackfoot or Stoney Nations to play all the transition music which will be a very powerful way to underscore the connection to Indigenous teachings.
